My brother made an awesome point to me today that makes so much sense when I claimed that a terminator will come from the future and try to kill me before I can become president.

What my brother suggested is that if we ever did have time travel someone from the future would have already come back in time by now and we would know about it. Since no one has came back in time it is quite obvious that we have never achieved the technology to travel back and forth in time and it will never happen. If you believe in the future already happening and shit like that it has already happened before and the future people have never came back in time thus making time travel technology non-existent ever!

Thought I would share this amazing discovery with you all.

To annoy your theory: how would you know they haven't? And if they did, it would be impossible to prove and they would be declared crazy. Also, it'd have to be specifically this time and not 0.00000001 ms later or earlier.

So, even though it's impossible because of the obvious reasons, your ( brother's ) theory isn't leak-proof

IF time travel were possible in the future or even now, either all possible changes would occur instantly due to the very nature of time travel and the universe would implode, space-time would rip apart and the universe would cease to exist as we know it(big bang?), or it would branch time off into another timeLINE...leaving this timeline intact as if nothing ever happened. I'd prefer this scenario because I'd be able to go back in time, alter something, then cruise that timeline going forward and see what effects would occur. If I were able to choose which resultant timeline I could exist in, I could use trial and error to create my perfect world.

The most plausible theory though is the fact that time is merely arbitrary, that when something happens it's permanent. In order to travel through time there needs to be that 4th dimension that would act as a highway through "time"...this dimension could very well just not exist at all.

Or they could also just stay hiden having seing the parrelle version of our universe were they openly showed them selve, and it turn out to be a disater.

Or they could have said they travel throught time and we just don't beleive em.

If we do end of figuring it out, as always something much worse is ganna happen something that we didn't expect and were screwed. We've messed around with everything else, how about we leave time and time traveling alone lol.

Maybe time travel exists so far in the future that they'd consider the year 3056 to be as ancient as the middle ages.

who says there hasnt already been time travel??? What makes you think that they would stand up and say "ho ho boy I came from 2056!" and people would believe them??? (the little white men in the coats wouldnt be too far behind).
IF there has been people time traveling to our past (or presently from their past) why would they try to stand out??? (it would do them better to try and fit in)....there is no way to know if it had been done or will be......

How do you know your brother isn't from the future, MMSDome? What if your brother is from the future, and wants to ruin our technology so we don't have cool shit in the future. For all you know, he could be plotting to brainwash everyone in the world into thinking time travel will never happen, thus preventing it from ever happening, because no one will attempt to try it.

Time traveling into the future will be possible by using relativistic speeds, but traveling back in time will remain impossible.

Wouldn't the sun have gone supernova by that time?

Anyway, maybe if time travel was invented, there were major restrictions put on it so that it could only be used at certain times? Or maybe it would be disallowed entirely for fear of humans screwing the past and future up?

Well, if it was invented, I can't imagine going into the past being a public thing. Just imagine all of the idiots going back in time to stomp on butterflies and hunt dinosaurs.

It would be way to risky to allow the public to travel back in time, unless there were some tour guides or something.

But no, on a more serious note, if time travel did exist, why would anyone wish to come abck to this time?

Interesting theory/ways of looking at it.

but questions:
1) what if time travel is possible but no one in the future has discover it yet.

2) what if time travel is possible but when you travel back in time you actually come out as something totally different? because we see it as when you travel back through time, you'll still be you, what if you become something else, the atom in your body changes.

3) What if when you travel through time with the idea, say the world at anyone time can only have one you or one me, could it not possibly be that when you travel through time you will have landed where you are 10 years before as yourself (if 10 years is the distance set), and that's is why we sometime have a sense of Deja Vu?

Time travel is not possible for the simple fact that Time is a measurement of motion.

To move backwards in time you would need to take every molecule and move it to the location it was in at the appointed time you wish to visit. You would have to undo and reverse every interaction that happened between that point in time and the present.

In short you would need to take complete control of all matter and energy in the entire universe inorder to travel back in time even 60seconds.

That being said while time travel is not possible it is possible to travel between parallel dimentions. In these dimentions time may move differently so it would appear you moved backwards or forwards in time.

The concept of multiple dimentions is simple to demonstrate.

Flip a coin.
In one universe it lands Heads.
In another it lands Tails.
In a third it lands on its edge.
Fourth it is snatched out of the sky by a bird...

Every possibility that can happen, does happen!

I've got a time machine in my basement. It only goes forward at regular speed. it's essentially a cardboard box that I wrote "Time Machine" on in Sharpie.
